Little Guy's 1st Birthday

Well, today we celebrated Little Guy's 1st birthday. I can't hardly believe that he is one year old, and that he's been with us for 11 months. It seems like only yesterday that we brought home a 5 lb. 2 oz. little frog-eyed redhead. Some days, though, it seems like he's been a part of our lives forever.

He had a parent visit today, and they actually made it, complete with a birthday card and gifts for him. They were supposed to have a visit yesterday, too, but cancelled it 1/2 hour before it was to start.

In the afternoon, we took him to get his one year pictures taken. We wanted to take advantage of the latest special at Walmart - 27 pictures for $5.88. We were hoping to get two of the packages, so we took his blue Christmas suit and a casual football outfit. But when we got there, we noticed that you could only get one package per family per visit. However, when the photographer found out we were foster parents, she let us go ahead and get two packages, plus helped us order additional prints at a much lower cost than usual. Most times, when people find out "our kids" are foster kids, they go out of their way to do special things for us and the kids. It's such a nice thing to see happen, especially when you hear so much about bad foster homes on TV.

Tomorrow is the big birthday party. So far, about 40 people have RSVP'd yes to coming. We've waited a very, very long time to celebrate a child's 1st birthday, and I'm really looking forward to it. We are using our fellowship room at our church, because there is no way that many people will fit into our little house. After we put the kids to bed tonight, my hubby and I went about making the birthday cake, painting the signs, wrapping the presents - all the fun stuff! Everything is pretty much ready to go tomorrow to the church.

Happy Birthday, Little Guy! We love you!

"Helping" with hangars

Little Guy loves to play in the closet with the hangars. I was putting away clothes today, and all he wanted to do was play with hangars. He is so helpful!

Little Man meets Santa

Today we took the kids to meet Santa at a local church. They were doing a special "Saturday Sunday School" and handing out presents. The kids had a lot of fun with all the music and singing and games. Each of the boys got a little Fisher Price Roaring Lion flashlight. Little man loves his, but Little Guy doesn't quite understand how it works. It was a fun morning for us.
